"When anxious, uneasy and bad thoughts come, I go to the sea, and the sea drowns them out with its great wide sounds, cleanses me with its noise, and imposes a rhythm upon everything in me that is bewildered and confused.”
Rainer Maria Rilke
Rainer Maria Rilke
We thought that this quote was a fitting one for a post done in summertime, when so many of us are in vacation mode and may be at the beach.
Many people find the beach to be a very calming place, where they can take the time to clear their heads and make sense of the world, while also drowning out the distractions of the day.
For other people, the beach is not so fun. Maybe the beach, with all its direct sunlight and gritty sand, is more irritating than it is relaxing. And that is OK.
But whatever the place, we are finding it is important to have a place where we can relax, tune out some of the distractions of the outside world, and make some sense of things.
This summer, one of our hopes for you is that you rediscover this place – whether it is your back patio, an open field or a favorite corner in your home – and that you are able to spend some time reflecting on where you have been and where you are going.
We look forward to hearing what you learn during your time or reflection and where you are going next!
