What Does It Take to Be a Leader?

This is a question that was answered with grace and wisdom by some talented and transformational young high school men last week at a local Atlanta-area event. We had the privilege of witnessing these young men receive accolades for their leadership roles on campus and in their community. And when asked about what leadership traits they possessed personally, here are some of the responses they gave:
  • undying focus on success
  • puts family first
  • knows career aspirations
  • trustworthy
  • brave
  • organized
  • humble
  • stands up for what's right
  • determined
  • hard-working
  • reliable
  • good posture
  • strong
  • dependible
  • takes charge
  • respectful
  • loyal
  • honest
  • confident
  • caring
  • compassionate
  • great attitude
So you see, sometimes we don't have to go very far to find inspiration. And often, some of the most difficult answers - such as what REALLY makes a leader - are answered every day by our young people. All we need to do is take the time to listen...
